Dear PYLUSD Area 2 Resident,
I’m Maria Lupita Stubbs, your trusted school board candidate for Area 2 of the Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD). I am honored for the opportunity, this upcoming election on November 5th 2024, to ask for your support to serve and represent families and their students, the community, and teachers, as your board trustee. Let me share with you my vision and priorities putting kids first at PYLUSD:
1. ๐ก๏ธ Ensuring Safe Schools: I am advocating for increased school resource officers and a comprehensive safety and security audit at every school site, prioritizing the well-being of our children.
2. ๐ฐ Supporting Student Access: Families unfortunately get priced out of having their children participate in sports and extracurricular opportunities. The cost is too high. I am championing policies that reduce financial burdens on parents, so all students have equal opportunities for enrichment and extracurricular activities like the Universal Sports Institute (USI) and the Orange County School of Computer Science (OCSCS).
3. โญ๏ธ Improving Student Achievement: I am dedicated to enhancing academic performance across all district schools through strategies like district-funded intervention programs and innovative learning opportunities, including internships and after-school support, ensuring every student reaches his or her full potential.
4. ๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐ฆ Strengthening Parental/Teacher Partnerships: We need a culture of open communication and collaboration between parents and educators. I will advocate for parental notification systems and increase access to curriculum resources.

As a PYLUSD parent, I'm always on the lookout for model leaders in our community for whom quality academics have played a key role in their development as leaders and professionals. ๐…A well deserved congratulations to all our PYLUSD High School graduates! This week has been an exiting one for all our highs schoolers and their families across the district. Of course each K-8 student is having a graduation too, experiencing the bittersweet excitement of advancing to the next grade while saying goodbye to their beloved teachers, all while in anticipation of meeting their new teachers after the summer concludes.
As a member of the community, a proud PYL parent, and school board candidate for PYLUSD I see so many wonderful things have been accomplished this year for our PYLUSD students, who deserve every opportunity to reach new heights in their academics each day!
